21-Day Challenge Guidelines

I’m so excited for this journey!  I am doing this for the first time with you all.  When God first put this on my heart, I wanted to start it September 12.  My reason?  I am leaving Monday for my first kid-free vacation with my husband in 7 years.  I didn’t want to challenge myself to focus on prayer while I’m laying on the beach!  (In editing this, I realize how awful that sounds but hey, God already knew I felt that way.)  God seemed to have something else in mind, and He put so much joy in my heart about the challenge that I want to start NOW.  So I’ll be honest, this first week is going to be a REAL struggle for me.  I have been praying more in the past couple of weeks, and I can tell you God shows up.  He is constantly pursuing us, no matter where we are in our walk with Him.  When we make time with Him through prayer a priority, I believe He is going to show up.  EVERY TIME.

That being said, here are a few things to keep in mind as we move through this challenge.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 ESV)

“You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
      you discern my thoughts from afar…
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
      in your book were written, every one of them,
      the days that were formed for me,
      when as yet there were none of them.”  (Psalm 139:2, 16)

You all, He knows us.  Better than we know ourselves.  Do not hold back in your prayers.  If you are needing some big, bold sign from God…ask Him.  If you don’t know what you need, tell Him!  Seek Him with your WHOLE heart.  I have been praying about this challenge and I will continue to do so.  I am praying for God to show you He hears you.  I hope we all feel closer to Him and start to crave prayer time rather than seeing it as a box to check off on our Christian checklists.

The challenge is simple…yet it will require you to prioritize God.

  1. Spend 5 minutes a day, three times a day, in prayer with God.  I strongly encourage you to journal this time.  If you don’t like writing, don’t worry.  Simply write down words or phrases.  I think if you keep a written document of your time with God, you can look back at the end of the challenge and see Him working.
  2. Check in on the Facebook page each day.  A simple hand-raised emoticon, a hello, or whatever you want to share.  You can check in at any time!  We will encourage each other to grow in our faith.
  3. Believe.  Believe in the Almighty Father who loves you so much!  Believe something amazing is going to happen at the end of this challenge!

Thank you for joining me.  I will be encouraging you and being as active as possible on the Facebook page, so please join in the conversations.  We’ll start on Monday!!
