Liebster Award and Nominations!

God really shined His love on me after some difficult weeks when He opened the door for my nomination of the Liebster blogging award! In February 2017, I made the decision to delete my blog. I started the process of shutting it all down in order to focus on writing a book. When my mother-in-law Lorrie passed away unexpectedly in March, I returned to my blog as a way to deal with my grief. She always encouraged me to continue blogging, and this small action gave me a way to honor her memory. It hasn’t been an easy journey – writing isn’t – but I am so grateful and blessed to all the wonderful ladies who support me and encourage me. My prayer for each entry posted is to simply glorify God and encourage another woman to turn to Him. I’m honored God has allowed me to pursue a passion of mine in order to serve Him.

Without Allison Wixted, I wouldn’t be writing this acceptance entry and getting the opportunity to shine some love on others. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, Allison, for this wonderful opportunity. Please go check out her website, Mom-Ventures with Hope &a Humility, here. She is constantly supporting fellow bloggers by featuring them on her link ups each month. God is doing wonderful things through Allison!

What is the Liebster Award?

The Liebster Award 2017 is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. ‘Liebster’ in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

Why did you start blogging?

I started my first version of this blog while pregnant with my third child. We had a health scare and I ended up on bedrest. It was during this pregnancy I re-dedicated my life to Christ. I began reading and studying Scripture, and used this blog to share the lessons I learned.

What does the name of your blog mean?

My blog started as a personal journal of sorts to record my walk with Christ. I felt God nudge me to share my testimony with others through my writing, and so I named it Walking Together: Encouragement to Grow Your Faith. My goal is not to preach, but to encourage other Christian women on their individual walks with Christ. I also love to be encouraged by the stories of how God is working in the lives of others. We weren’t meant to do this life alone, and I pray on my little space in the worldwide web women know they aren’t alone. I want us to link arms and walk together on this crazy, amazing journey with Christ.

What is your biggest struggle about blogging?

I’m going to be very transparent here. My biggest struggle is to not get discouraged when I feel like no one is reading my blog. Many times on my journey I have stopped writing because I didn’t think my words mattered. God has shown me time and again, it’s not about me, it’s about Him. Lately, He encourages me to keep going by letting me know the words I write are reaching His intended audience. It’s an honor to get to do this!

What is your go to snack?

Wintergreen Altoids. 😂 They replaced Wintergreen Lifesavers a few months back because they have fewer calories. I’d eat a tin of Altoids over anything else.

What or who makes you laugh the most?

My youngest daughter is the comedienne in our household. She lives to make us all laugh! A few nights ago at dinner, she said something inappropriate (hello, third child) and we refused to laugh. So she kept laughing in a goofy way, enticing us to laugh with her. Then, she started laugh-crying because her feelings were hurt that she couldn’t get us to laugh! Guess who won that battle? Hint: not me…

What is your favorite quote to live by?

I don’t really have a quote per say, but a Scripture. So it’s a quote by God. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11

What is your favorite book and why?
Night Road by Kristin Hannah. I could read it over and over again. It’s not a Christian book, but it is a wonderful story of mistakes and forgiveness. Go check it out 😊

What is saving your life lately?
Not what, but who. Jesus. I’ve wanted to give up more times than I can count this past month, but Jesus keeps holding me up. I turn to Him in the good and the bad, so blessed that He never turns away from me.

Name your favorite aspect of each season.
WINTER: Christmas! Love celebrating my Savior’s birth! Anything after January 1 is simply me waiting for winter to pass!

SPRING: The first days of warmth!

SUMMER: Toes in the sand, and our yearly trips to Hilton Head.

FALL: Everything! Sweaters and jeans, crisp air, changing leaves… this momma would be happy if we had fall weather for 9 months, winter for 1, and summer for 2.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Netflix! Catching up on old TV series. Parenthood was a favorite! Currently I’m watching Last Man Standing.

My favorite blog:
I am slowly getting back into the blog-reading world! I am so inspired by the blogs of the ladies I met this year at She Speaks! Of the more “popular” blogs (i.e. big followings), I tend to read a lot of articles posted by Scary Mommy. I don’t think she’s a Christian blogger, but her parenting posts crack me up and I can relate with them! Ask me this question again in 6 months and I will have a better answer ha!

10 Random Facts about Me…
1. Small talk with strangers terrifies me.
2. I have to sleep on the side of the bed closest to the bathroom 😂
3. Criminal Minds and Friends are my two all-time favorite shows, and I’ve seen every episode of every season multiple times.

4. I’m not very “tech-y” and the fact that my spacing is messed up on this entry is driving me cray cray.

5. I have a Masters degree in Diplomacy from a military college.

6. I attended two elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and two colleges (for my undergrad degrees).
7. I could spend hours in Target and Lifeway.
8. When I was in college, I told my grandma while we were in a bookstore that one day I’d be famous and have my book on the shelves. I still want to be published, but not the fame. To God alone be the glory!
9. I love food.
10. I’m terrible at carving out time to talk on the phone but love to text!
