Speak in Your Ear

“I want to speak in your ear,” my youngest says. I love when she does this. She comes over, cups her hands around her mouth, and uses a quiet voice to tell me something. She sounds so formal in her request. Most times, the words spilling out of her mouth give me the giggles. Each time my daughter requests this, I have to stop what I am doing to focus on her words. Her sweet, soft voice is easily muted by surrounding sounds.

How often do I allow God to speak into my ear? His voice requires the same amount of concentration as my 3 year old’s. Yet, I often don’t stop long enough to give Him the opportunity to guide me, encourage me, or even convict me. Maybe you can relate?

It is difficult to have a strong relationship with God if we don’t believe in the truth He whispers to us through Scripture. As we work to deepen our roots in Christ, allow me to speak these truths in your ear. No matter where you are, hill or valley, firm or wavering, all of these statements apply to you. Read them with an open heart, and allow God’s Word to plant seeds in your heart.
